Life as a Students (What is expected as a student of WIST)

Personal Standards of Conduct
When students attend Bible School, their friends, church, family and the world in general expect a higher standard of life from them. There are many details of life which of necessity must be regulated by the school. As a result, personal standards of life must be on the very highest plane, not only to assist the students in forming life-long habits which honor the Lord, but also to protect the name of the school from variations of conduct which, though sincere, might be misunderstood by others.

Student Council
Officers for the Student Council are elected each year to assist in the overall development of the student's life. Participation by all is expected. The Student Council provides:
  • A forum for the expression of the views of the student body on matters affecting the operation of the school.
  • The opportunity to foster and promote a sense of community and school spirit.
  • Means for addressing students' interests and concerns.
Spiritual Emphasis
Spiritual Emphasis is held during each Academic Year. Students are encouraged to pray and fast during this week.

Chapel Service
Chapel Services are designed to contribute to the continued spiritual growth of students and faculty. It is a requirement for all students enrolled at WIST.

Christian Service
Preparation of students for all aspects of leadership and ministry is considered a high priority. Alongside theoretical instructions, the school makes provision for practical training and experience. Students are encouraged to become involved in various activities including Evangelism, Children and Youth Ministry and School Outreach. development and sharpening of the skills of the student.
During the student's training program, some opportunity is given for the testing of theory through practical ministry. This exercise is intended to facilitate the Ministry in this context includes the following areas: leadership such as Pastoral work, Christian Educators, Missionary Outreach as well as the other necessary functions within the church. The overall aim in training is to prepare students to unselfishly and wholeheartedly work for the furtherance of God's Kingdom.

Ministry Involvement
Students are required to become integrated into a church of their choice in consultation with the Director of Student Affairs

Student Guidance
Students are assigned to a faculty member for academic advice Year 1, 2 and 3-4 concerning study skills, time management, goal setting, values and other adjustment challenges. In addition, the Director of Education provides assistance for students with regard to their course of study.
Any member of the faculty, administration or staff is available for counselling students. The Director of Student Affairs and Resident Advisor (RA) in the dormitories are available to help students solve personal and social problems.
