Brief History
The West Indies School of Theology was founded in 1946 by Canadian Missionaries
as an Institute for the Training of ministers of the Pentecostal Assemblies
of Canada, West Indies District. The school was held originally at the Woodbrook
Pentecostal Chapel and later, at the El Dorado Faith Pentecostal Church.
In 1954, the school found its home nestled in the 6 1/2 acre campus, Fourth Bridge,
Maracas Valley, St. Joseph. The Campus consists of the school with it's library,
chapel, dormitories for both male and female students, a basketball court.
WIST has expanded beyond the training of ministers to embrace the equipping for
the five-fold ministry: preparation of lay people for ministry involvement,
and personal Christian growth and development. Generally, the school attracts
students of various evangelical backgrounds, from the English speaking Caribbean
islands.
Rev. Dr Pat Glasgow is the Current president of the institution and like
those before
him seeks to ensure all those who attend WIST receive the best possible training.
